This is the shocking moment a train slams into a pickup truck at a level crossing leaving the elderly driver trapped in the mangled wreckage.
The footage was obtained from the Civil Defence in the town of Itirapina, in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, and shows the incident on 8th June.
The CCTV video shows the locomotive striking the vehicle as it was crossing the tracks, hitting it side on and dragging it off the road, leaving the vehicle a mangled wreck.
Rescuers later arrived on the scene and worked through the night to free the trapped motorist.
The driver, 62, was pinned inside the crushed car and had to be cut free by emergency teams after the collision at around 7.15pm.
According to the Military Police, he suffered broken ribs and a cut to his head but stayed conscious throughout.
The man told the Civil Defence he had worked all day and suffered a "blackout" moments before the crash.
He was treated by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and taken to Hospital Sao Jose, where he remains under observation in a stable condition.
The car was completely destroyed, in what was the second such accident at the same spot in 50 days.
The railway operator Rumo said the driver had tried to cross the line as the train approached, with a red signal ordering vehicles to stop as the train passed.
The company said the train operator activated emergency procedures but could not avoid the impact because of the train's size and weight.
Rumo added that the Brazilian Traffic Code gives trains right of way at all railway crossings.
The line was closed for forensic examination, with the vehicle removed from the tracks at around 9.45pm and services resuming at 10.30pm.
The circumstances of the crash are being investigated by the authorities.
