A fitness influencer has revealed she was removed from a bridal party after the bride decided the dress she had chosen was “too sexy”.
The incident happened in Barcelona, Spain, where the 24-year-old Emelly Souza from Bahia, Brazil, currently lives, after she sent the bride a mirror selfie from her dress fitting.
Emelly said she and the bride were not close friends, but they knew each other, making the invitation to be a bridesmaid a pleasant surprise.
She said: "She wasn’t a close friend, but we knew each other, and I thought it was nice that she had asked me to be a bridesmaid.
"I went to try on the dress, took a mirror selfie and sent it to her because I thought everything looked normal and was exactly what we had agreed on."
But after seeing the photograph, the bride reportedly told Emelly that the dress looked too revealing on her body and suggested that she should no longer be part of the bridal party.
Emelly stressed that she had not been disinvited from the wedding itself and was still expected to attend as a guest.
She said: "She made it clear that I was still invited to the wedding; she just didn’t want me to be a bridesmaid anymore.
"That’s what I found strangest, because my presence wasn’t the issue. It was the same dress, but it only became ‘too sexy’ after she saw me wearing it."
The fitness influencer said she would have understood if the dress itself had been different from what they had agreed on, but felt uncomfortable with the explanation she received.
Emelly said: "I would have completely understood if the dress wasn’t what we had agreed on.
"What bothered me was realizing that it became inappropriate because of how it looked on my body."
She said the experience made her feel that her figure, rather than the outfit, had become the problem.
She added: "I’m not going to apologize for the curves I have."
Emelly, who has more than 140,000 followers on Instagram, has previously attracted attention after sharing other unusual and embarrassing experiences involving her body and fitness routine.
In one incident, she revealed that she accidentally swallowed an AirPod after mistaking the wireless earbud for one of the supplement capsules she regularly takes.
She said she was holding the capsules and the AirPod in the same hand before accidentally swallowing the earbud with water.
Emelly said at the time: "I was completely on autopilot.
"I swallowed it with water and kept getting ready like nothing had happened. At the time, I didn’t feel anything unusual."
She only realised what had happened when she noticed one of her earbuds was missing and used Apple’s Find My app to locate it.
She said: "As soon as it started beeping, I put my hand on my stomach and realised the sound was coming from inside me.
"I completely froze. That’s when I understood I’d swallowed my AirPod instead of one of my supplements."
She continued monitoring the earbud's location through the app until it eventually passed through her digestive system naturally.
