This is the moment Brazilian rural influencer Alzira Maria Theodoro Luiz calmly drank coffee and told followers “I am at peace, I am happy and today is going to be a quieter Sunday” minutes before she was shot dead at her home.

Alzira, 43, who was single and lived alone, was killed in the rural community of Córrego Mata Fria, in Mutum, a municipality in the Vale do Rio Doce region of Minas Gerais state, south-eastern Brazil, on 7 June.

Footage posted to her social media that morning shows the blogger sitting at a table with a peaceful rural scene and a lake visible behind her.

Alzira, who was known for sharing her countryside routine with followers, appears relaxed as she talks to the camera and drinks what appears to be coffee.

She tells viewers: “Let’s have a little milk, people, with coffee and a little biscuit.”

The influencer then comments on the sunny morning and says: “I am at peace, I am happy and today is going to be a quiet Sunday. I don’t want to work too much today.”

Alzira also showed coffee plants near her home and asked followers in other regions what the weather was like where they were.

The video was reportedly filmed at around 8.30am.

A short time later, at 9.18am, Minas Gerais Military Police were called to the property after witnesses reported hearing between three and four gunshots.

Police believe Alzira was on the veranda of her home when two attackers arrived on a red motorcycle.

Witnesses told officers the men were wearing helmets and balaclavas to hide their faces.

The pair then opened fire on the influencer, according to police.

Alzira reportedly tried to escape by running through the rooms of the house towards the back of the property.

Investigators believe she may have tried to flee through a bedroom window before she was caught by the gunmen.

She was hit by at least three bullets, including one to the back of the neck or head, according to local reports.

Emergency teams were called to the scene, but Alzira was already dead when help arrived.

The blogger had built a loyal online following by showing her simple life in the countryside, including farm work, coffee growing and day-to-day life on her rural property.

She had around 59,100 followers and more than 1.1 million likes on TikTok.

Alzira had told followers in another post that she was widowed, lived alone on the farm and carried out much of the work on the property herself.

Her social media pages were later flooded with tributes from shocked followers.

One wrote: “Only those who knew Alzira personally in everyday life know how hard-working this woman was.”

Another said: “I wish I had been lucky enough to have a coffee with you.”

Minas Gerais Civil Police have opened an investigation into the killing.

No arrests had been reported and the motive for the murder remains unclear.

Police said relatives and people close to Alzira had reported that she had not mentioned any recent threats and had no involvement in police incidents.

The investigation is continuing.
