This is the moment a car suddenly veers off a twisting mountain road, smashes into an electricity pole and plunges 100 metres down a gorge, killing one passenger and seriously injuring two others.
The crash happened near Chillad on the Chakrata-Tuini road in Dehradun district, in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, on Friday, 2 October.
Dashcam footage shows the Ford travelling along the steep road with a sheer drop on its left as it negotiates a series of tight bends.
The vehicle then suddenly swerves towards the edge of the road and strikes the electricity pole before rolling down the side of the gorge.
The car fell around 100 metres before coming to rest below.
Durgesh Chaudhary, 39, was killed at the scene, while Sunil Mandal, 27, and Rishabh were seriously injured.
All three were from Dehradun and had been travelling in the Ford, which had a Uttar Pradesh registration.
Their screams from the bottom of the gorge alerted passing motorists, who contacted police.
Officers called in the State Disaster Response Force because of the depth of the gorge.
Rescuers from the Tuini post descended around 100 metres using ropes before pulling Sunil and Rishabh to safety.
The injured pair were taken to the Community Health Centre in Tuini for treatment.
Police are examining the dashcam footage as part of their investigation into the cause of the crash.
