This is the moment deputies ram a stolen car to a halt with a PIT manoeuvre to end a reckless chase on a busy motorway.
The footage was obtained from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) and shows the pursuit ending on Interstate 5 in Pierce County, in the US state of Washington, on 10th June.
The video shows a deputy's vehicle striking the fleeing car against a lorry after it was forced to slow down amidst heavy traffic.
This causes it to spin to a stop as it leaves the roads, with police then ordering the driver at gunpoint out of the vehicle with their hands up as the footage ends.
A TCSO deputy had first tried to pull the car over after noticing it carried plates that did not belong to it.
The driver refused to stop and fled at speed along Interstate 5 before crossing into neighbouring Pierce County.
As traffic grew heavier, the deputy announced he was calling off the chase over fears for the safety of other road users, only to realise the fleeing driver had become hemmed in by surrounding traffic.
Deputies then carried out a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) manoeuvre to bring the reckless drive to an end.
Officers later established that the driver was wanted on a warrant for theft issued in Snohomish County and had no driving licence.
The car itself was found to have been stolen from the city of Auburn, also in Washington.
The driver was taken to Thurston County Jail on suspicion of trying to elude police and of possessing a stolen vehicle.
