This footage shows police displaying more than 1,400 kilogrammes of cocaine seized from a clan's stash house near a beach.

The footage was released by Spain's National Police on 24th August and shows the seizure in A Pobra do Caraminal, in the Spanish province of A Coruna.

The video shows officers recovering the packages and laying them out for inspection after the searches were completed.

Three men were arrested, among them the head of the long-established Los Fanchos clan, who investigators say coordinated the reception and safekeeping of the drugs.

The haul came to 1,410 kilogrammes (3,108 lbs) of cocaine, along with 100 grammes of heroin, a quantity of cash and other items.

The investigation began on 20th August after officers learned that two boats had landed a large consignment on a beach in the town.

It was run by the National Police narcotics brigade with help from the American Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

On 21st August officers watched a car arrive at the main suspect's home at 6.55am, with a man leaving the house carrying a rucksack.

Those in the vehicle took extensive measures to avoid being followed or identified, according to the officers watching them.

In the early hours of 22nd August the clan leader and two other men made repeated trips between his house and a shed opposite it, close to O Conchido beach.

Officers saw them carrying heavy bundles from the shed to a third property in the same town and moved in to make the arrests.

Searches were then carried out at all three addresses, and the three men appeared before a judge on Monday morning.

They are accused of belonging to a criminal organisation and of drug trafficking, and the investigation remains open.

Galicia has been a principal entry point for cocaine into Europe for decades, with its clans handling landings along the rias of the Atlantic coast.
