This is the moment a newlywed Italian woman and her Albanian husband are killed when their BMW crashes during a holiday just three days after their secret wedding.

The crash happened in the town of Manez, Durres County, Albania, shortly after 2am on 19th August, on a secondary road around 30 kilometres from the capital Tirana.

Sara Brugnatelli, 26, from Zocco in Erbusco, in the province of Brescia, Italy, had reportedly married 25-year-old Kleo Vrioni on 16th August before travelling to Albania with him.

The circumstances surrounding the wedding remained unclear, with Sara's family reportedly telling Italian media they had not been informed about the marriage.

It was believed the couple may have held a private ceremony in Albania, Kleo's country of origin, although the circumstances of the wedding had not yet been officially confirmed.

The newlyweds were returning from a night out with three other passengers when Kleo reportedly lost control of the BMW on the road in Manëz.

Footage shows the car travelling at high speed before suddenly veering off course, kicking up a huge cloud of dust and smashing its front passenger wheel into a concrete structure.

The BMW then overturned and slid for around 40 metres (131 feet) before coming to a stop.

An initial analysis of the footage estimated that the car had been travelling at around 114kph (71mph), although the figure was still subject to technical investigation.

Police said that at around 2.22am, Kleo lost control of the vehicle and it subsequently crashed into a concrete kerb.

Sara and Kleo died at the scene along with 15-year-old Alvi Muhaxhiri, while 25-year-old Rejsi Vrioni and 16-year-old Klevis Dervishi were seriously injured and taken to a trauma hospital in Tirana.

Klevis was reported to be in critical condition.

Kleo's toxicological tests also confirmed that he had consumed alcohol, according to the investigation's findings.

In Erbusco, Sara's friends and acquaintances gathered around her family as they awaited the return of her body from Albania.

The parish priest of Zocco, Don Bruno Colosio, remembered Sara as a young woman who was “in love with life and horses, her great passion”.

“She had a great desire to live and was very close to her father,” he said, adding that she had been caring for him because he was ill.

Sara had lived in Zocco since 2005 and had recently spent part of her time at Kleo's home in Ponte San Pietro, near Bergamo, where he worked as a bricklayer.

She had also found work as a shop assistant at a pet supplies store in nearby Curno.

Kleo's neighbour Ervist Myrtaj, 21, said he was struggling to believe the tragedy and revealed that the wedding had apparently been kept private.

He said: "My brother worked with Kleo and is now going to Albania for the funeral."

Ervist said he had known Kleo for around a year and a half, and that they would sometimes have dinner together or meet at a bar.

He said: "Kleo had not even told us about the wedding; perhaps they preferred to keep it private.

“He liked fishing. Sara did not live here, but she would stay for a few days and then return to Erbusco to her father.”

Kleo had lived in Ponte San Pietro since he was 18 and worked as a bricklayer.

Sara's body was expected to be returned to Italy after the completion of the necessary examinations and procedures in Albania, with her funeral date yet to be announced.
